A brief description of the character:
Johnathan Casey, better known as John or Johnny, is a thirteen year-old boy who is struggling with his father's death and his mother's subsequent withdrawal from the real world. His father had been a Lieutenant General in the US Marine Corps, which required the family to move constantly throughout his childhood, but after his death Johnny's mother chose to move back to her hometown of Alexandria, VA.

Johnny's values to protect others and always work for the greater good were instilled in him as a young boy, and even at thirteen he has attended military training camps and is making plans to go into the Marine Corps. He is large for his age, nearly six feet tall after his most recent growth spurt, and looking to surpass his father's 6'3" height.

While his height and size has always assisted him in protecting his smaller classmates from getting picked on, it has also makes him intimidating and unapproachable. Older kids and bullies tend to leave him alone, warned off by the rumors that circulate about his past. These rumors, coupled with the fact that he moved so often, has kept Johnny from making any real friends. As a result, he tends to be extremely quiet in school and avoids social interaction.
